ALONSO DEL CARPIO
ABOUT
Alonso Del Carpio was born in Lima and began playing piano at the age of seven, developing an intuitive bond with the instrument. He studied piano with Lydia Hung — later Director of the Conservatory of Lima — while also exploring guitar, clarinet, and double bass. Alongside his classical training, he found freedom in jazz and blues improvisation, sketching ideas on the spot and shaping a voice that balances structure with spontaneity.
His academic background includes both a degree in business and a Master’s in Scoring for Film, Television, and Video Games from Berklee College of Music. With more than 15 years of experience composing for television, short films, and media, his work ranges from chamber music recorded by the Les Arts String Quartet (Valencia) to orchestral recordings with the Budapest Art Orchestra (Budapest) and at AIR Studios (London).
Also a painter and sculptor, Alonso brings a visual and interdisciplinary sensibility to his compositions. Beyond large ensembles, he is equally drawn to atmospheric and impressionistic textures, shaping subtle layers of sound that can carry a story with intimacy and emotional precision.
